We achieved multiple search rankings for blues, jazz and live music clubs in San Diego for South Park Bar and Grill

This SEO program for South Park Bar and Grill raised the awareness of the restaurant/bar among San Diegans and regularly brings in Blues and Jazz lovers from all over the world.  We used a combination of strong keyword marketing in directories and review sites to get consistently high Google rankings, plus good use of Google Local for other strong SEO positioning.

The answer is, it depends on a number of factors. These include:

1. the search category and its popularity;
2. the age of the domains and length of time they have been optimized;
3. the relative strength of each listing in the category based on how well the category as a whole (or the sum of its poor or well optimized parts) is optimized;

We all see the categories where the listings and their order never seem to change. These categories are more mature, and often in business segments that sell higher priced products and services or ones that have a lot of traffic.  It’s no coincidence that these are also the categories where Pay Per Click (PPC) Google Adwords command the highest bids.

Less mature categories as well as ones that may have good niche traffic but lower overall volumes, rotate their free organic listings more than the mature ones. In these categories, there are fewer clear SEO winners, because the category as a whole (or the sum of its poor or well optimized parts) spends less on Google SEO designed to increase free organic search results. This bodes well for the business or organization that knows how to use “niche SEO” to reach their target audiences. because these categories are easier to dominate when categories are more “malleable.”

We’re always watching to see how our client’s listings are doing. Have they settled in to a listing number and never move, or do you see them bouncing around from page to page, sometimes not appearing for hours or days and then showing up again? Yes to both of these questions. Be patient when you’re starting out with SEO, and happy when you’re mature and stop moving.

“Sign up at Twitter.com for a Twitter account. Send an email to all your clients and prospects, and tell them you are going to start sending out periodic “Tweats” (this is what a Twitter message is called, no more than 140 characters), with mini foreign language  lessons. Of course, with only 140 characters, they have to be “mini” things – maybe a popular phrase, an example of a verb tense – you could spend a whole week, sending out one tweat a day on a particular verb usage, so people can see something every day and get used to it, without having to digest a lot of info at a time. Or send them a “word of the day,” with a new useful word in the context of short (less than 140 character) sentences. I know I would like to get these mini tweats, just to keep reminding me of the language, without a big commitment to study. Then when I’m ready for more serious study, I’ll be better prepared for the lessons, and I’ll be more likely to call you for lessons.  

Well, if you’re a foreign language teacher and don’t want to set up your own Twitter account, and figure out periodic Tweats, we’ll be happy to run you Twitter program for you. But this is really a nice, manageable Twitter program for you to implement yourself with a little focus.
